While most fantasy leagues focus on standard categories (Goals, Assists, Points, SOG, Hits, Blocks), some leagues include niche categories that require specialized streaming strategies. These categories often create unique market inefficiencies that savvy managers can exploit.

PIM Streaming Strategy

Applicable Leagues: 3-5% of Yahoo Fantasy Hockey leagues that score Penalty Minutes (PIM) or PIM+ formats.

Understanding PIM Value

Penalty Minutes are a polarizing category:

• PIM+ Leagues: Reward aggressive play (2 min minor = +2 points)
• PIM- Leagues: Penalize dirty play (2 min minor = -2 points)
• Standard Leagues: Usually ignore PIM entirely

Identifying PIM Streaming Targets

When to Stream for PIM

Stream When:

• You're losing PIM category badly (need 10+ PIM to catch up)
• Weekend has rivalry games or physical matchups

• You can afford to sacrifice other stats

Avoid When:

• You're ahead in PIM (don't chase more)
• Close matchup in other categories (PIM hurts ratios in some formats)
• Opponent can easily counter-stream
• Limited add/drops remaining
